The earliest mention of my character Labatryth {Whom is no longer a character, but actually me} occurs in Chapter 10: Trouble With Father of Bowser’s Tail II: Journey To Mushroom Gorge. As an ordinary Dragon my role is being Bowser’s flying horse as he searches for Power Stars in Mushroom Gorge. I never would have portrayed myself that way under ordinary circumstances, but I didn’t know better at the time. July 22, 2008, saw Bowser's Tail II reach completion at 2:12 AM. Shortly afterwards I chose Labatryth, originally Labatrith, coupled with Lyndynhyra, as a last name.
I was officially saved and rededicated my life to Christ at Student Life Camp in the Summer of 2009 - See “FLIP” book in my writing binder. This was the tipping point, when Labatryth switched from being a "character" to being me.
Several years earlier I had accepted Christ but never felt a change in my heart. Perhaps it was because I never enacted upon my salvation. The preacher during worship that night at camp asked everyone to stand up and invite Christ into their heart. Next I burst into tears, and began to struggle very violently internally about being a Dragon. My greatest worry was if my being a Dragon was a demonic thing. Then, after about three minutes of what seemed like years of pain, I finally invited Christ into my life. Andrew and Kim Williams were the youth leaders of our church group that year. Overjoyed at my decision, they led me into into the auditorium lobby. Next thing I knew they were laying hands on me, and praying for me after the service was over.
I came home from camp and struggled with being a Dragon for several months. At the time I was working on finishing my Bowser fan fiction. I then joined DeviantArt on December 6, 2009, after many fears of copyright and how secure my work would be when shared online. I published TGI Friday’s Dragonfire Chicken Story at 10:26:06 AM. Bowser Roleplay Intro published at 3:00:54 PM on the same day, as my first submission. Consult the MSN chat log for ShadrelPendragon during October 2009.
My struggle with my existence as a Dragon eventually culminated in me writing Part 1 of The Church Dragon, which I published on DeviantArt on December 7, 2009 at 1:38:30 PM, the next day after I had originally written it, which was also the same day I joined DA. Finally, I talked with Amanda one night about switching screen names from Bowser to Labatryth.
